HOTEL at the BAKERY

Welcome to our unique, small-scale family hotel and museum. Our boutique hotel is located in the center of the beautiful dune village of Burgh-Haamstede. In addition to the hotel, we have also been running a bakery (Bakery Sonnemans) for four generations. The hotel is located at Achterweg 9, behind the bakery. When you walk into the museum from the terrace, at Sonnemans, you will immediately imagine yourself in " earlier times ".

The museum

While enjoying a cup of coffee and something delicious (can be picked up at the bakery counter), you can admire the collection that the baker has collected over the years.

The entrance to the museum is free.

Tip: ask in the bakery if the baker has time for a tour!

Museum themes

1. ) Schouwen-Duiveland - last year of the war 1944/1945 - true stories of local islanders.

2. ) Retro times - various attic finds of hotel/bakery from 1800.

The mueum falls under the day catering and closes its doors at 5 p.m.

The hotel

We usually respond within 5 hours.

The romantic, vintage hotel rooms are located above the museum. These can be reached after the museum closes via a separate front door with a staircase leading up. Unfortunately, this is an old-fashioned steep staircase and therefore not easily accessible for people with mobility problems. Our apologies for this, we cannot properly change this.

Furthermore, the hotel has a quiet, spacious courtyard where you can relax.

The bakery's square/terrace is located in front of the hotel. Here you can enjoy the sun all day long. If it gets too hot in mid-summer, our beautiful roof plane tree (in the middle of the square) provides wonderful cooling.

Next to the bakery there is another terrace, the "Tea Garden", where you can also spend the entire day. Opposite the Tea Garden you can walk straight into the Zeepeduinen via the Duinweggetje. (3 min walk.) Here you will find various walking routes.

* Minimum 2 nights. (booking system does not respond to 1 night bookings)

* Hotel and bakery closed on Mondays and Tuesdays .                                              

  (exceptions for bookings of minimum 7 nights.)

Breakfast

Staying at the bakery... this means waking up to the smell of freshly baked bread!

Per person you will receive fresh rolls including croissant, a cup of coffee or tea, a glass of fruit juice, butter, spread and boiled eggs. This is ready for you in the Bruynzeel kitchen from 1937 in the bakery shop.

All our bread is prepared manually (with love) traditionally. Our wheat comes from this island and is milled in Zierikzee by the "de Hoop" mill.

Friday to Sunday from 08:00 to 12:00.
